A marathon is the same distance no matter where it’s held. 26.2 miles or when outside the U.S. – 42.194988 kilometers. A great NIKE moment today, as Greg and I attended the 2013 Shanghai International Marathon.
The Bund is a waterfront area in Central Shanghai and runs along the western bank of the Huangpu River. Bund means embarkment or an embanked quay (quay – a great word for my Words With Friends crowd.)
The Bund, and by the way, whenever I say Bund, I think of the scene from My Big Fat Greek Wedding where the in-laws bring a bundt cake to the family gathering and have to keep repeating the word “bundt.” Anyway, The Bund is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shanghai. Originally, the buildings along The Bund housed the headquarters of the major financial institutions of China. Many banks still exist in the area and are now surrounded by hotels and great restaurants and bars.
I wanted to share some pictures with you that I took this Sunday morning on my run on The Bund.
